ICT

ICT (information and communications technology - or technologies) is an umbrella term that includes any communication device or application, encompassing: radio, television, cellular phones, internet, computer and network hardware and software, satellite systems and so on, as well as the various services and applications associated with them, such as videoconferencing and distance learning.

 
ICT is also applied to telecommunication technicians with underpinning skill and knowledge encompassing: alternating current and transmission line theory; the OSI model; data cabling used to support broadband applications; physical data interfaces; data protocols; data transport technologies; ICT hardware components; ICT systems and applications; end-to-end ICT configurations and systems; emerging fixed and mobile ICT networks and plans and specifications used in the installation of ICT systems.
